I wanted to write out a fairly detailed review of the 2021 Rolex Explorer 1 – 124270 which was released in April of this year. There has been much debate and discussion on this watch on TRF and other forums as its one of the few (if any) times Rolex has gone back to an original design size for a new model. Members of the forum will correct me .
I am leaning towards the current Rolex Explorer 1 40mm (reference 224270). Yes, it can be viewed as boring. But there's something in that simplicity that looks so good! At the same time, I really like the latest reference of the no date Sub (ref #124060). The Explorer is a humble watch for a Rolex professional model launched 69 years ago. And yet it was the Rolex worn by Ian Fleming, and the one he was most likely thinking of when he decided which watch James Bond would wear. Today, the Explorer is something of an outlier within the modern Rolex sport watch lineup. The Rolex Explorer is in many ways the quintessential dressy tool watch from Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual collection — less flashy than the GMT-Master, less bulky than the Submariner, while still rooted, like those two models, in a history of adventure and discovery.

Something about the shape of these numerals and the position of the indices, hands, text, has always made me . Was lucky enough to acquire an explorer 1 a few weeks ago! Does anyone know if this watch would be ok in sea water? Will make sure the crown is screwed in but wasn’t sure if it’s fine to go into some salty waters. It’s the most classic Rolex, its the perfect first Rolex in a collection, and it’s the most affordable sport reference. To unlock grip level 2, do 100 pull ups. To unlock grip level 3, first obtain grip level 2, and then do 100 more pull ups. In order to get the grip higher faster without doing pull ups, drop from a railing and grab onto another railing ten times.
