I can't say yet (the only Rolex in the house was my mother-in-law's, and my wife doesn't wear it), but I've been preemptively wondering if I'd get bored with a "safe choice" .Finally someone said it. So glad (not!) that Rolex is now making the 40mm but I still can’t get a 36mm that I’ve been on the list for at the AD since it came out. If you call that boring, then most of the Rolex watches are pretty boring. I don't think they have changed much since they started making watches. I think the "boring" is what some people are buying into.

The Rolex Datejust is the most boring to me for sure. That is made worse by the Datejust having a large chunk of the overall Rolex production percentage; that is, if you see a random Rolex, don't be surprised if it is a Datejust. As for Tudor, I haven't really thought about it. I bought many watches before I bought a (SS) sub. Always thought they were boring and just bought one because it was a good deal and I am of course a Rolex collecter. It really is the perfect watch. I’ve had my Rolex Explorer for around 3 months. The Explorer and Explorer II line had always been among my favorites. I sold my 16550 a couple of years ago and always wanted an Explorer to replace it. Like many, the Explorer is .Extremely boring, looking at a closer point of view it's between "Datejust boring" and "Air-king ugly", a mix of them. Still trying to figure out what's going wrong with people leaving almost 10K (euros) on this pretty trivial watch.
Rolex being a private company is not as concerned with short term profit. It is why they have such tight controls over retail price. Around 2001 you could get a 50% off coupon for .
